Before poker, Erik Seidel traded on the floor of the American Stock Exchange and was a serious backgammon player. He brought that risk-management mind to the felt and never let it go — building one of the most decorated careers the game has ever seen, almost entirely without theatrics.

The Hand That Started It All

For many, the introduction to Seidel came from the movie Rounders: the grainy 1988 WSOP Main Event footage of a young Seidel running into Johnny Chan’s perfectly laid trap. Seidel turned that early heartbreak into a Hall-of-Fame career.
