The Great Dane

Born in Denmark in 1974, a former competitive backgammon and tennis player, Gus Hansen exploded onto the poker scene in the early 2000s with a style that broke every rule in the book. Where others waited for premium hands, Hansen raised, re-raised, and out-played opponents on later streets — and won.

A Made-for-TV Legend

Hansen was the first player to win three World Poker Tour open titles, and he became the face of High Stakes Poker, where his loose-aggressive fireworks produced some of the most famous moments in televised poker. He added a WSOP bracelet in 2010 at the WSOP Europe High Roller Heads-Up event.
